Elisa Keir

I’m a multi-disciplinary artist, practical mystic, and administrative necromancer. My home and studio, aka Command Central, are nestled in the dusty hamlet of Madrid, New Mexico. I also have an outpost in northern New Mexico and my ‘Mission Control’ office space and micro-gallery in Santa Fe. These locations are not just places of work but habitats I deeply respect and engage with in my various explorations.

As a predominantly self-taught artist, I have crafted my own studies with nature as a mentor. Born in Alaska, and raised between Idaho and California, I also studied at the Chicago Art Institute, The Hemmingway Center, and Boise State University.

Over the past thirty years, my art has been exhibited both domestically and internationally. My work incorporates a range of mediums including textiles, encaustic, clay, bio-materials, video, and any other material it takes to further elaborate on themes of interest. I seek to blend the utilitarian with the mystical through using tangible and intangible tools, materials, and processes to create surreal and poly-magical drafts and works.
